Schulzeit in Pellworm; danach landwirtschaftlich tätig im östlichen Schleswig und Angeln, später Pellworm. Wandert im Oktober 1883 mit Bruder Ernst nach Südafrika aus. Clocolan (Orange Freestate) Koppieskraal am Marico, Transvaal: Oktober 1886 Später selbständig auf Driefontein. Stirbt an Malaria.
