Biography

Harvey was born about 1849 in La Grange, Cass, Michigan, United States. He was the son of William and Rachel Muncy.^[1][2]

In 1850, Harvey and his parents were living in La Grange. His father was a farmer and they had real estate valued at $600.^[1] In 1860, the family continued to live in La Grange. Harvey now had a sister, Flora (6). William continued to farm and his real estate holdings had increased in value to $3500 and he showed $350 in personal property.^[3]

By 1871 when he registered to vote, Harvey had moved to Mountain View, Santa Clara, California, United States where he was working as a Farmer.^[4] He again registered to vote in Mountain View in 1873.^[5].

At some time before 1874, Harvey married. No record of his wife has been found, but a son, William Harvey Muncy was born to the couple in March 1874.^{[6][citation needed]}

We next find Harvey living in West Park, Fresno, California where he again registered to vote. From this record we learn that Harvey was 5 ft., 9 in. tall, had a fair complexion with blue eyes and dark hair.^[7]

On 29 Dec 1900, Harvey (51) married Mrs. Nellie Spencer (43) in Mountain View, where he was then residing. Gregory Leggis the pastor of St. Joseph's Church presided over the ceremony. The witnesses were Mr. Newton True and Mrs. Della True.^[8]

In 1920, Harvey and Nellie were living in Fremont, Santa Clara County. They owned their home "free" and Harvey was working for a salary as a Teamster.^[9]

Harvey died on 6 Mar 1925 in Crescent City, Del Norte, California. He is buried near his son William and daughter-in-law Harried May (Waggle) Muncy in the IOOF Cemetery (Old South section), a part of the Crescent City Cemetery in Crescent City.^[2][10][11]
