Biography

This profile is part of the Nagle Name Study.

Ellen Nagle (or Nangle) was the daughter of David Nagle of Monanimy, in Cork County, Ireland, and Ellen Roche of Ballyhowly, in Cork County, Ireland.[1][2][3] She was the eldest daughter in a family of ten sons and nine daughters.[4]

There is no birth record. She may be assumed to have been born around 1580, similar to her husband, and consistent with her marriage date.

Ellen married Sylvanus Spencer around 1601.[5] They had two sons Edmund and William, for certain. Some references suggest also a son Nathaniel.[2][3] However other references, including her father's funeral notes from 1637 only identify Edmund and William.[4]

It is not known when she died.
