Alfred Nash was born in Worcestershire, England.

Alfred Arthur Nash was the father of Walter Nash GCMG CH, New Zealand's 27th Prime Minister.[1]

Alfred Arthur Nash was born at Kidderminster, Worcester in 1854 to parents Alfred Arthur Nash & Margaret Roebuck.[2]. [3] He was christened at the St George church in Kidderminster on 6 January 1856.[4]

In 1871 Alfred was 16 years old and living with his mother Margaret (38) at Worcestershire. He was working as a worsted rug weaver.[5]

Alfred Nash married Amelia Randle at Kidderminster on 1 November 1874.[6] Their children were:

  • Ernest Arthur Nash, born 1875 at Kidderminster[7]
  • "James" William Sydney Nash, born 1877 at Kidderminster[8][9]
  • Albert Leonard Nash, born 1878 at Kidderminster[10]
  • Archibald Harry Nash, born 1880 at Kidderminster[11]
  • Walter Nash, born 1882 at Kidderminster[12]
  • Margaret Emily Nash, born 1893 at Kidderminster[13][14]

In 1881 Alfred (25) & Amelia were living at Chapel Court, Kidderminster with their children Ernest A Nash (5), James W S Nash (4), Albert L Nash (2), Archibald Nash (0). Alfred was working as a rug weaver.[15]

In 1891 Alfred (36) and Amelia (39) were living at Kidderminster with their children Ernest A Nash (15), James W S Nash (14), Albert L Nash (12), Archibald Nash (10), Walter Nash (8). Alfred was working as a beam rug weaver.[16]

In 1901 Alfred was 46 years old and living at Northfield, Worcestershire. He was working as a brewer’s carter.[17]

In 1911 Alfred was 56 years old and boarding at Birmingham, Warwickshire. He was working as a carrier.[18]

Alfred died in 1913 aged 58.[19]
