After William’s first wife died Edith (Edie) became his housekeeper. W.A. Neale and his brother-in-law took over the lease of Waihi Station in the Waikaremoana District in 1895. He sold it in 1906 and bought Tapui Station near Tuai. In 1912 he sold Tapui and bought 3 blocks of land for his 3 sons from his first marriage. He and Edie moved to Wairoa where Edie brought up the children while W.A> worked on the farms.
