Biography

Agnes NEILS was born somewhere in 1881^[1]. Her parents were John Michael NEILS and Mary OLAUGHLIN, and she had an older sister Elizabeth.

She married Arthur Edwin HUMPHRIES in Auckland NZ in 3 Sept 1896 ^[2], when they both were aged 20 years.

HUMPHRIES-NEIL.-On July 1, at Auckland, Arthur Edwin, third son of Mr J. Humphries, Commercial Road, Newton West, to Agnes Julia Edgar, youngest daughter of Mr J. Neil. Church-street, Onehunga, New Zealand.

The couple were together until 1908 when they separated, and then divorced in 1926 ^[4]

"Leaving a family of five; Agnes Julia Edgar Humphries, in 1908, went away from her husband, Edwin Humphries (said Mr. Metthews), and had not returned. They had been married in 1896. The latter was granted a decree nisi on the grounds of desertion.

Agnes married Edward LOGAN in 1928 ^[6], when she was aged 47 years, and Edward was aged 45 years.

They had 3 children together:

1. Hazel Hilda Charlotte (HORSFALL), b 1912, d 1988.
2. Edward Ivan, b 1917, d 1981
3. Joan Maria (TAMAKI), b 1920, d 2005

The couple were together for 26 years until Edward died in 1954.

Agnes passed away in NZ in 1971, aged 95 years ^[7].

She is interred in Taitā Old Cemetery, Naenae, Lower Hutt City, Wellington, New Zealand ^[8].
