Biography
Rebecca Nelson was the daughter of Colonial Patriot Edward Nelson (Battle of Bryan Station)
Edward NELSON's daughter Rebecca married Wm. F. LOCK. Their daughter Sarah LOCK married Benjamin DYKE, all in Kentucky. Sarah and Benjamin DYKE moved to McLean Co., IL. Their daughter Narcissa DYKE married Daniel IRWIN in McLean Co., IL. Narcissa and Daniel IRWIN had a son George IRWIN who married Lora LYON daughter of Don Carlos LYON and Henrietta RIDLE both born in Stark Co., IL. Don Carlos is the son of C.M.S. LYON b. Fulton Co., NY and Lora CUSHMAN b. Vermont. Henrietta is the daughter of Joseph RIDLE and Angeline BUCK both born in Crawford Co., PA. The IRWINs and RIDLEs moved to Green and Boone Co's, Iowa. Joseph RIDLE always used the RIDLE spelling and not RIDDLE when he had control over how it was spelled.
Edward Nelson b. bet. 1738 and 1745 in VA married Harriett Margaret Morgan in 1774. He was in the Rev War. At Fort Boonesborough for four years, and in the battle of 1782. Edward and Harriett Nelson names are on the memorial at Fort Boonesborough. [DAR app based on service]. Their children are; William b. 1776 in Craven Co. NC. John b 1776 [md Dicy] in Craven Co. NC. Elizabeth b. 1778 in Boonesborough, KY. Jemima b. ? in KY. Lydia b. bet 1770 and 1791. Moses b. ? in KY. Rebecca b. bet 1788 and 1791 in KY. Source: DAR apps 509226, 668352
