Biography

When Minta Mae Newton was born on August 3, 1883, in Hicksville, Ohio, her father, James, was 27, and her mother, Alice, was 22. She married William Porter Smitley on January 23, 1913, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. They had six children in 21 years. She died on July 15, 1935, in Carryall, Ohio, at the age of 51, and was buried in Scipio, Indiana.
