Northampton Herald 28.08.1917 Known at: 28th August 1917 "Killed, Pte. F.J. Newton, Royal Marine Light Infantry. Youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Newton, Stowe-Nine- Churches. Aged 25. Killed in action Aug 9th by enemy machine gun bullet. Had been at the front three months. Prior to joining the Army was in the employ of the L and N .W. Railway Company at Wolverton Station. Another brother is serving with the forces in India. A service was held in the Parish Church, Stowe to the memory of the deceased, a goodly number of parishioners and friends attending. The Rector [the Rev. H.H. Crawley] conducted the service."
