Biography

Tobias was christened at the Heddal church in November of 1758; the witnesses were Halvor Huristved, Ole Jonssen, Liv Huristved, ThoneTobiasdatter, and Ragnhild Knudsdatter.

Tobias and Anne published their intention to marry on 28 March 1784; their sponsors were Ole Halvorssen, Elev Halvorssen.

Tobias worked on the farm Huristved as a husmann, or cottager. Both he and Anne, his second wife, were of the working people, who leased smaller farms from the larger farm owners. At the time of the 1801 Census, Tobias was 41, Anne was 40, Gunil, 11, Niels, 7, Christian, 1, Anne, 3, and Torgon, 5.

Tobias died at the age of seventy-one.
