His parents were separated by 1900, and he was living with his mother in the household of her parents. [1] Ten years later, in 1910, he was living in the same place. [2]
In 1917, Bernard enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for 2 years during WWI. [3][4]
In 1920, he was once again living in the household of his grandfather. [5]
Online trees for this family are full of conflicting/wrong information. There is no evidence - anywhere- that his father was named Bernard Edward. Many of the sources that are attached to Bernard Edward are for a completely different person.
On his parents' marriage record, his fathers name clearly says Franz Edward. There is no doubt that his parents later divorced.
Plenty of sources are provided on both of his parents' profiles.
