General surgeon in the town of Litchfield, Minnesota, well known in the 1970s as an author and late-night television personality on talk shows. Best known book "Making of a Surgeon", he inspired many to pursue a career in medicine.

Dr. Nolen wrote "Spare Parts for the Human Body," "A Surgeon's World," "Healing: A Doctor in Search of a Miracle," "Surgeon Under the Knife," "Baby in the Bottle," "Surgeon's Book of Hope," and "Crisis Time! Love, Marriage and the Male at Mid-life."
