Biography

Evelyn J Oberg

She was born July 6, 1920 and is the daughter of Erick Oberg and Dora Durphy. Evelyn grew up in Salamanca, New York along with siblings, but do not have that information.^[1]

Evelyn married Walter Lee Westfall about 1937 and they made their home in Meadville, Pennsylvania until their divorce about 1960. Together they had three children; Robert Lee Westfall, Constance 'Connie' Westfall and Donald Westfall.

Evie married Richard Keith 'Dick' Maust March 19, 1965 and they made their home in Meadville, Pennsylvania until his death June 3, 1995. She moved to Saegertown, Pennsylvania^[2][3] until her death May 30, 2001^[4] and is buried in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville, Pennsylvania.^[5]

Evelyn Maust, 80, of Route 198, Saegertown, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center. Born in Salamanca, New York, July 6, 1920, she was a daughter of Erick and Dora Durphy Oberg. She married Richard K. Maust March 19, 1965. He preceded her in death June 3, 1995.

She retired from Singer Heatrex where she had been a bookkeeper. She previously worked as a waitress at the former Huckelbury's Cocktail Lounge and Eagles Club, was employed by the former Talon Inc. and the former Keystone Ordnance Works. She was a Gold Star mother of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, a member of the Italian Civic Club Auxiliary and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Garnet and her husband, Gary, of Cortland, Ohio; a son, Donald Westfall and his wife, Barbara, of Orlando, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; two half brothers, Richard Pusbach of Meadville and Carl Pusbach of Westfield, New York.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Westfall; a granddaughter, Donna A. Westfall; and two half brothers, Robert and Walter Pusbach.

Calling hours are today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Byham-Miller-Mizner Funeral Home Inc., 404 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Pat Ellis of Venango United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Township. The family suggests memorials be made to American Heart Association, 933 Park Avenue, Meadville, Pennsylvania. 16335.^[6]

• Nieman Clan History compiled by Helen Marie (Newcomer) Maust. Aunt Helen attended most all the Nieman Family Reunions and the Frankhouser Family Reunions. She gathered information from family members who attended the Reunions over the years sharing information about family lore and updated information about each branch. Around 1980 she put information together by typewriter and created a very large document that included all of the information about the Nieman and Frankhouser clans. Both branches intertwined in various ways and trace back to the common ancestors of John Blosser who emigrated from Switzerland and was of German origin. In the following years, she provided updates after the reunions were over and she could add the new information gathered at the reunions to the document. That document has been scanned as a PDF file.
