Biography

John Ogilvy was a member of the aristocracy in Scotland.

John (Ogilvy) Ogilvy Fourth Earl of Airlie is a member of Clan Ogilvy.

John Ogilvy was baptised on 5 November 1698 in the parish of Longforgan, Perthshire, son of David Ogilvy 3rd Earl of Airlie and Grizel Lyon.^[1]

John and Margaret Ogilvy were married on 5 December 1722.^[2]

The couple had four children:^[3][4]

1. Elizabeth Ogilvy (after 1717 – 1721)
2. David Ogilvy (baptised Cortachy and Clova, Angus 19 February 1725)^[5]
3. Walter Ogilvy (1733 – 10 April 1819)
4. Helen Ogilvy (1741 – unknown) [uncertain].

John Ogilvy assumed the title Earl of Airlie on the death of his brother James in 1731.^[3]

John died on 24 July 1761 in Cortachy, Forfarshire, aged 61.^[3]
