Biography

Elizabeth was baptised at Sancreed 3 January 1808, “base child of Elizabeth Olds.”. [PR] Probably her mother Elizabeth Olds is the spinster of this parish who married William Hosken bac of this parish of Sancreed on 6 Nov 1813 by banns. On 31 October 1829 by banns at St.Levan, James Osborne married Elizabeth Olds, witnesses James Tregurtha and Joseph Richards. James and Elizabeth were living Chynor, St Levan in 1839 and Chirgwigen, St Levan in 1841, with Elizabeth 6, Johana 4, William 1 and Samson 2 months and his father Naboth 75 and next door and in 1841 there was a Joan Hutchens 85 living with Mary Williams 75. In his will dated 12 April 1823, Aampson Hutchens names his wife Joan, and his natural daughter Elizabeth Olds under the age of 21. Their eight children were mostly baptised at St.Levan. In 1871 James was a labourer aged 68 living at St.Just with Elizabeth 60, Henrietta 26 and Edwin 20. In June quarter 1881 a James Osborne died in Penzance district aged 80. In 1881 Elizabeth 70 from Sancreed was a widow seamstress living at Crowzenwrack, St Buryan with Henrietta 36 a charwoman and grandson William J 8 from Madron. She was a widow aged 70 in 1881 census a seamstress living at Crowzenwrarh, St.Buryan, with her daughter Henrietta. Elizabeth died in June q 1882 aged 71 in the Penzance district.
