Olive was born in Champaign, Champaign County, Illinois in 1875 the daughter of Robert Olmstead and Mary Case.

She married Frank Spelman and they had a daughter Eula.
Ollie died 8 July 1959 and is buried with her husband in the Roselawn Cemetery in Champaign. [3]
