Christen Olsen was born in Norway
Christen was born in 1783 at Vestsida, Porsgrunn.[1] He was the son of Ole Christensen Døhl and Margrete Christensdatter.[1]
In the 1801 census at Vestsida, Porsgrunn, the 19 years old Christen Olsen is listed in the household of Ole Christensen Døhl and Torber Halvorsdatter. He is "til Søes paa Forsøg" (at sea as an aspirant).[2]
