Biography

Johan Gunnar Gren was a Swedish footballer, born as Johan Gunnar Olsson in 1920 in Oscar Fredrik parish in Göteborg, the son of Johan Emanuel Olsson (Gren) and Gerda Maria Andersson (née Frisk).[1] He passed away in 1991 in Göteborgs Annedal parish in Göteborg.[2]

Gren most famously played for A.C. Milan and was part of the Swedish trio nicknamed "Gre-No-Li". As part of the Swedish national football team he won the Olympic gold medal in 1948 and the second place at the 1958 World Cup.

He took the surname Gren officially in 1958, although he had been using it long before then.
