Margaret Oman was born on 18 Sep 1821 in Edinburgh, daughter of John Oman (1798 - 1841) and Agnes (Haig) Oman (1798 - 1857).

Her siblings were:

Margaret married Archibald Livingston Hewitt (1821 - 1875) [1]
