Biography

Edith Catherine Orr, daughter of Joseph Orr and Naomi Catherine Beaton, was born on 30 March 1904 in Port Morien, Cape Breton County, Nova Scotia, Canada.^[1] She is listed there with her parents and siblings in the 1911 Canada Census, ^[2] and again in 1921.^[3]

Edith (22) married Archibald MacDonald (22), 21 September 1927 in Port Morien, Cape Breton, 21 September 1927.^[4] They settled in Florence, Cape Breton where they are listed with 2 sons, Archibald Orr (1929) and Gordon Alexander (1930), in the 1931 Canda Census.^[5] A 3rd son, William Edwin was born in 1934.

Edith passed away in Florence, 5 November 1983 and Archie died in North Sydney, Cape Breton, 28 January 1989. (See Research Notes)They are buried in Drummond Memorial United Church Cemetery, Ross Ferry, Victoria, Nova Scotia, Canada.^[6]
