Biography

"Johannes Otterbach of Trupbach, son of Johann Otterbach of Eiserfeld, was born ca. 1590, and d. at Trupbach in 1624. As 'Hannes Otterbach' of Eiserfeld he was admitted to the Guild of Smelterers and Hammersmiths 1606/7 as a 'Huettenknecht' (i.e., a handy man around the forges). Usually such admissions were for boys 14-18 years old, which places Johannes' birth ca. 1590. He married, probably about 1612-15, Tilge (Dielge, Ottilia), who was perhaps a daughter of Hermann Schneider of Trupbach (see later discussion), and was apparently still living in 1656. 'Demuth, daughter of Tilge, Johann Otterbach's widow of Trupbach, was christened at Siegen Jan. 30, 1625, her god-mother being Demuth, 'the mother-in-law.'" ^{[1] [2]}

1. Anna Otterbach, b. 1618 in Trupbach, Nassau-Siegen, Germany. There are several Anna Otterbachs listed with birthdates ranging from 1616-1629. She died in 1656 in Trupbach.
2. Hermann Otterbach, b. 1620 in Trupbach, Nassau-Siegen, Germany. Married Elisabeth (?).
3. Johannes Otterbach, b. 1622 in Trupbach, Nassau-Siegen, Germany. Married Anna Stuell.
4. Demuth Otterbach, b. 30 Jan 1625 in Trupbach, Nassau-Siegen, Germany (after her father's death) and christened the same date in Siegen. She died on 13 Mar 1701 at age 76.
