Biography

Harriet Oxenham married Charles Stephens 22 Oct 1864 at the residence of Rev John Cope, North Adelaide, South Australia. ^[1]

She passed away age 58 in 1894 ^[2] and was buried in Hindmarsh Cemetery. ^[3]

Mrs. Stephens, wife of Mr. Charles Stephens, chief gauger in H.M. Customs, died at the residence of her husband, Bond-street, West Hindmarsh, at 8 o'clock on Monday evening, in her 59th year. She had been ill for some time, but her death was somewhat unexpected. She was the third daughter of the late Mr. John Oxenham, and arrived in South Australia with her father in the Phoebe, on March 28, 1847. For many years Mrs. Stephens had been a resident of the town of Hindmarsh, where she was much respected. She leaves a husband and four sons Mr. H. G. Stephens, Mr, A. E. Stephens, Mr. T. N. Stephens, Mr. O. H. Stephens, one daughter, and three grand-children. ^[4]
