Biography

"Son of an Italian merchant. He was recommended to Queen Mary, and appointed Collector of Papal Taxes. According to tradition he abjured Romanism on Mary’s death and appropriated the sums collected for the Pope. He lent large sums of money to Queen Elizabeth as well as to the Netherlands and Henry of Navarre."[1] He commanded his own ship in the battle against the Spanish Armada.

Probably the grandfather of Peter Parrevicini Parrevicini-2[2] Horatio settled in England in the reign of Queen Mary" Horatio had two sons, Tobias and one other. Peter is possibly the son of one of these. Horatio also had a brother Fabritio Pallavicino.

The arrest of his brother Fabrizio in 1579 by agents of Pope Gregory the thirteenth motivated him to change his faith from Catholicism to church of England whereupon Queen Elizabeth made a direct appeal to the pope.[3]

He was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth I in 1579. He was counted as one of the twenty-eight Alberghi who settled in England. His son Sir Henry married Jane Cromwell and died in 1615 while his other son Tobias married Catherine Cromwell. His daughter married Henry Cromwell, son of Oliver Cromwell esq. [4] Nearly all other sources say it was Tobias who married Jane and Henry who married Catherine.

Died 6 July 1600.[5]

1601 Sir Oliver Cromwell, married Sir Horatio's widow[6]
