Biography

He moved with his family to Detroit in 1742 and traded with the Miamis Indians. Gilbert was a merchant and interpreter in Detroit.

(III)-Gilbert Parant (Aussi Appele Albert et Hubert) b-1703, a merchant, married about 1733 (most likely Montreal). Another marriage date mentioned is 31 Dec 1734 in Montreal.

(III)-Marie Suzanne Richard Miami Métis born August 15, 1718, daughter (II)-Jean Baptiste Richard b-1682, an interpreter and (II)-Marie Anne Yon-Lade Couverte, b-1694 a sauvagesse of Miamis (but is actually a Miamis Métis), epouse July 9, 1759 Detroit Charles Barthelemy.

Gilbert Parant was shot at the Miami River by Indians and was buried on 9 Sep 1750 in River Raisen. His body was later exhumed and was reburied om 4 July 1752 in Ste Anne's in Detroit.
