Biography
Mary was born about 1780 in Granville County, North Carolina, the daughter of John Parham and Mary Booth. [1] Little is known of her life, other than she married Richard Upshaw between about 1800 and 1803. Judging from the 1820 Federal Census, she and Richard Upshaw had several children. Their identifiable children are Richard Upshaw Jr., Mary Upshaw, and Atkins Upshaw.
Mary Parham Upshaw died in 1818 or 1819, following the birth of her son, Atkins Upshaw, about 1818, and 27 February 1820, when her husband remarried.
