Alice Pariseau was born on April 6, 1861. Her marriage record claims that she was born in North Fairfax in Franklin county, Vermont,[1][2][3] while later census records suggest that she was born in Quebec.[4][5] Her parents were Louis Pariseau[1][2][3] and Adeline[1][2] Dumaine.[3]
Alice married Alice Pariseau, daughter of Louis Pariseau and Adelaine Dumaine, on December 4, 1877 at Uxbridge in Worcester, Massachusetts.[1][2][3] The marriage appears to have occurred at a protestant church, as it was officiated by clergyman John R. Thurston.[7]
Curiously, theirs was an interfaith marriage, as the 1901 census notes that Alice was baptist, while Antoine and the rest of their family was Roman Catholic.[5] This may relate to why the couple married in Massachussets, however it seems likely that they also met in the United States, since the marriage record indicates Alice was born in Vermont.[1][2][3]
The St-Martin family lived in St. Louis-de-Bonsecours in Richelieu, Quebec[4][5] The couple had 8 children: Hubert, Clara, Helene, Ida, Joseph, Alma, Louis, and Alice.[4][5]
It appears that Antoine and his family moved to Manville, Rhode Island between 1901 [5] and 1904,[6] where he worked as a Portmaster.[6]
