John married Lillian Mary Austin on 8 April 1908 in Manukau, Auckland, New Zealand.[2]
He was Mayor of Onehunga three separate times.
John died on 18 May 1948 in Onehunga, Auckland, New Zealand, aged 67.[3] He was buried in Waikumete Cemetery & Crematorium, Glen Eden, Auckland, New Zealand.[4]
