Note

Note: The biography of Stafford L. Parker from HISTORY OF FAYETTE COUNTY
KENTUCKY, by Robert Peter, ed. by William H. Perrin, O. L. Baskin Co.,
Chicago, 1882, Page 771 follows:
Stafford L. PARKER, M. D., Athens, bears a name which has attained a
considerable degree of distinction in the annals of Fayette County.
His father, John E. PARKER, was born in Caroline County, Va., October
6, 1795, and was thrice married. His first two wives, whose maiden
names were Powers and Sale, died in Virginia. His third marriage was
with Miss Rebecca Shepherd, a native of Virginia, and the mother of
our subject. He came to Fayette County about the year 1831, and for
some twelve months lived at Walnut Hill, whence he removed to Athens,
and there filled the office of Postmaster for a number of years,
continuing to reside there to the day of his death, in August, 1881.
He was a soldier in the war of 1812-15, a member of the Baptist
Church, a Mason and a Democrat. His wife died in 1850. Of the children
born to him, two are dead. Those living are Mary, Lucy (married),
Martha, Sarah (married), and Virginia C., Alexander and Stafford L.
The latter graduated in the medical class at Louisville University in
1864 and since then has been engaged in the active practice of his
profession at Athens, where he is a useful member of the Masonic
fraternity, as well as of the community at large.
