Biography
Sophia was baptised on 12 August 1804 in Bentley Hampshire by parents John and Ann. [1]
On 3 August 1834, at the age of 30, Sophia married Charles Spawforth in Bloomsbury, Camden. Isaac Potter was a witness. [2]
On 24 July 1835 the couple had a son, John Robert, baptised on 16 August at St Giles, City of London. Charles was a Coffee House Keeper. [3] Charles died aged 33 in 1843. [4]
In 1844 Sophia married John Webley who was 11 years her Junior. They both lived in Carnaby Street, where she ran her Coffee House. [5] John had been a Tailor but now ran the Coffee House.
In 1845 Sophia was listed in the London City Directory in 9 Carnaby Street, London. Coffee Rooms. [6]
In 1871 the couple were living in Somerstown, Pancras with niece Ellen Wheeler and a lodger. They had retired from running the Coffee House. [7] In 1881 John had returned to being a Tailor. [8]
Sophia died in 1883 aged 78. [9] and was buried in Kensington. [10]
