Amos was born in 1810. Amos was living in Aurora, Ohio when he first married Mariann Hinsdale on 15 Aug 1833. He later married Nancy Trotter on 27 Jan 1836 in Portage County, Ohio. Amos was a shoemaker by trade. He passed away in 1875 in Vermont of Typhoid Fever.
