Biography

Pana was born about 1908 in the Russian Empire. She immigrated to Australia.

She was bridesmaid at the wedding of Olga Permiakoff in January 1928, then she herself married Athanassius Andreeff in February 1928 in Queensland.

Pana was a very pleasant and friendly lady, cheery, liked a joke and the company of family and friends.

Annually (on her birthday) she held a luncheon with her close friends at her house at Rita Street, Holland Park. Attendees included her husband,Olga Permiakoff and her daughter, Zoya (Joyce) Brooks and a friend called Tania to my mothers recollection.

When Olga's daughter got engaged, Pana gave her a very pretty doily, which she still has.

Pana was a great cook. Everyone loved her Russian pies (piroshki).

Pana always kept a hole in the back yard for burying scraps and vegetable peel.

In older life, Pana had grey hair with the exception of a white-yellowy streak up from the top of her forehead, a result of her heavy smoking habit.

My mother's recollection is that Pana was not well in older life and suffered from pancreatic cancer.

She passed away in 1995 in Brisbane, Queensland.
