Biography

Laura Paternostro is born and baptized 17 May 1782 in Corleone, named after her paternal grandmother. She is the daughter of Matteo Paternostro and Rosaria Grizaffi. Her godparents are Nunzio and Rosaria Paternostro.[1]

Laura is seventeen when she marries Paolo Streva, son of Francesco Streva and Luigia Terrusa, on 10 November 1799. Her father, Matteo, has died by this time.[2]

Laura and Paolo have at least nine children: Rosa (c. 1803), Salvatore (c. 1805), Giuseppe (c. 1807), Andrea (c. 1808), Vincenzo (c. 1810), Biagia (c. 1815), Francesco (c. 1818), Giovanni (c. 1824), and Lucia (c. 1825).

Rosa is born around 1803, based on her reported age at death.

Biagia is born around 1811-5, based on her reported ages at the birth of her child, and at her death.

Francesco is named after his paternal grandfather.

Lucia is born around 1825, based on her reported age at the birth of one of her children.

Andrea marries Anna Sciara on 13 January 1828.

Vincenzo marries Maria Palumbo 23 October 1837.

Lucia marries Rocco Puccio on 3 February 1845.[3]

Laura's mother, Rosaria, dies at age 98 (b. 1749) on 7 June 1847.

Salvatore marries Gaetana Vutera on 6 March 1848.[4]

Biagia marries twice, first to Antonino Trombadore.

Biagia marries her second husband, Marco Cascio, on 28 April 1851. Paolo and Laura are still living.[5]

Biagia dies at age 45 (b. 1811), on 22 November 1856.[6]

Don Francesco marries Donna Giovanna Catalisano on 23 September 1867. Paolo has died by this time.[7]

Death of Laura

Laura dies at age 87 on 4 December 1869, the widow of Paolo.[8]

The Reverend Priest Don Giuseppe dies at age 74 (b. 1807) on 8 June 1881.[9]

Rosa dies at age 84 (b. 1803) on 25 November 1887. She has never married.[10]

Giovanni, possidente (landowner), dies at the age of 70 (b. 1825) at his house on via Macaluso, 85 in April 1895. He never married.
