Biography

Walter Paterson was born in December 1855 to David James and Latitia Philipps Paterson, and baptised in January 1856.[1][2]

He attended Cheltenham College (Matric 1874) then Trinity College, Cambridge. (BA 1878, MA 1885). He was ordained Deacon 1878 and Priest 1879. He was Curate of St Mary's Wakefield 1878-80, of Kewstoke, Somerset 1880-83, Uphill 1883-7, Hutton 1887-90, then Rector of West Lydford 1890-1914, and Rural Dean of Cary 1906-14.[3]

In 1894 he married Mary Cooper.[4]

He died in 1914. At the time of his death he was living at West Lydford Rectory near Taunton. Probate was granted to his widow Mary Sandiford Paterson. [5]
