Mary Amelia Catherine Patou or Pation was born about 1800.
She married Don Juan Maura 5 March 1836 at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Nassau, Bahamas. He was the first Consul in Nassau of "Her most Catholic Majesty, the Queen of Spain. The couple had 11 children together: John, Joseph, Caroline, Cornelius, Augusta Sophia, Edward, Ann Victorian, William Sylvanus, Amelia Catherine, Georgiana Eliza, and Mary Ann Elizabeth Maura.
Amelia Maura died at 52 years of age in Nassau 17 November 1852, two days before her daughter-in-law Sarah Eliza Sears Maura. The year 1852 will long be remembered for the cholera epidemic that swept through the islands of the Bahamas.
