Private James Peed served in the United States Civil War.

James was born in 1844. He was the son of Robert Peed and Nancy Owens.[1],[2] James was a veteran of the Civil War.[3] He was captured at Culpeper Court House, Virginia. James died a prisoner of war at age 19, on 22 December 1863, at Point Lookout, St. Mary's County, Maryland. James was buried in a mass grave which has since been designated as Point Lookout Confederate Cemetery[4], Scotland, St. Mary's County, Maryland.[5],[6]
