John Dorsey Peeples Sr. was born on 30 Aug 1885 in Rutherford, Gibson, Tennessee to parents Martin Van Buren Peeples and Nancy Emily Barnes. He married Martha Elizabeth Ingram about 1908 in Tennessee. Children: Charles Bruce, Margie, Dr. John Dorsey Jr., Martha J. He died on 9 Mar 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee.
In 1930 he owned a cafeteria in Memphis, Tennessee.
