Biography

Herbert Pemberton was born in 1896 in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England to William and Alice Pemberton.

He joined the Royal Navy as an Ordinary Seaman in 30 July 1914 and served through 1918 aboard the Partridge II, the Europa I, the Victory, and the Magpie. He arrived in New York in 1920 to serve aboard the SS Patricia - and return to the Bahamas.

Herbert Pemberton married Marjorie Ann Arteaga, daughter of Carlos Rosenda Arteaga and Annie Lee Albury Arteaga, 8 April 1923, at the St Francis Xavier's Rectory, Nassau, Bahamas. The couple had two children: Charles William Pemberton and Sheila Marie Pemberton.

Major Pemberton was employed by the Bahamas Police and headed the Criminal Investigation Department.

Major Herbert Pemberton died 30 September 1966 in Nassau, Bahamas at 70 years of age. He was buried at St. Anne's Anglican Church Cemetery.
