Note N18
In the 1880 Federal Census, Frank was 7 years old and in hospital. He was hit by a train while playing on the railroad tracks and lost his leg.
In the 1900 Federal Census Frank and his father, George, were living at 756 Third Avenue. It says he was a factory laborer.
In the 1920 census he and his family were living at 290 Ninth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215. They had two boarders, apparently friends of Sarah's. They were both theater people.
The 1940 Federal Census shows Frank and Martha living at 543 59th Street, Brooklyn.
Death certificate 6536 issued by the Department of Health, Bronx, New York. Filed 28 Jun 1945. The certificate says he had been a resident of NYC for five years immediately before his death.
He died at the Home for Incurables. At the time of his death he resided at 4409 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. He died of cancer of the rectum.
He had been a gas meter repair man for Brooklyn Union Gas Co. The 1900 census he was listed as a laborer, of some sort. He was living with his father, George.
He was buried at the Green Wood Cemetery (718-768-7300) the funeral director was Frederick Herbst, Inc., 6741 Fifth Avenue. Lot 12807, grave 149, section 128/129. (Green Wood - R subway to 25th St.) Rachel looked all over lot 12807 and couldn’t find the grave. She said 128/129 was a very large area and the cemetery was closing.
I was unable to find his birth certificate for 1873 in Brooklyn during our visit to the NYC Archives. We couldn’t find a marriage certificate for him and Sarah in any borough for any year between 1905 and 1909. We looked under bride’s and groom’s names.[1][2][3][4][5]
