Biography

Ida was born in 1886 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, the daughter of Everett Pettengill and Miriam Pike. Ida was working as a shoe packer when she married shoemaker John Marshall Whitcomb in Haverhill in 1905. The service was performed by George W. Farmer. Ida and John lived in Swampscott in Essex County, Massachusetts in 1920. They had sons John Everett Whitcomb and Frank M. Whitcomb. John's brother Herman lived with the family. By 1940 Ida and John were in their 50s and her husband was working as a machinist. It is unknown at present when John or Ida died. A death date of 1965 in Watertown, New York for Ida may not be the same person because the birth date of 5 Feb 1886 is wrong.
