Biography

Lucy Erwin Pettigrew was born on November 18, 1902, in Charleston, Franklin County, Arkansas, to her parents, Thomas Aldridge Pettigrew Sr. and Lucy Lee (Erwin) Pettigrew. Tragically, Lucy lost her mother at a very young age when Lucy Lee (Erwin) Pettigrew passed away on January 27, 1903, leaving a profound impact on her life.

Throughout her childhood, Lucy lived in Prairie Township, Franklin County, Arkansas, where she was raised by her loving father and surrounded by her extended family. Despite the early loss of her mother, Lucy's upbringing instilled in her a sense of resilience and determination.

As she grew older, Lucy pursued her education and academic interests. In 1923, she achieved a milestone by graduating from the University of Arkansas, where she earned a degree in education. Her passion for literature and creative writing led her to pen poetry and short stories for children throughout her life, leaving a legacy of creativity and imagination.

In her later years, Lucy Erwin Pettigrew moved to Isanti, Isanti County, Minnesota, where she lived before her passing. On July 28, 1996, Lucy passed away in Cambridge, Isanti County, Minnesota, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and dedication to education.

Lucy Erwin Pettigrew was laid to rest at Parks Cemetery in Charleston, Franklin County, Arkansas, where she found eternal peace.
