Biography
George Philcox was born in Sussex, England in about 1725.
His first wife was Sarah Daw. They were married in Battle on 14 October 1750 [1]
George and Sarah had three known children: [2]
- Ann, baptised Battle, 31 December 1750
- George, baptised Battle, 2 May 1752
- William, baptised Battle, 16 April 1754
Sarah, the wife of George Philcox, was buried in Battle on 13 November 1756. [3]
George's second wife was Ann Smith, they were married in Battle on 2 April 1758 [4]
George and Ann had two known children: [5]
- Sarah, baptised Battle, 28 February 1759
- Philadelphia, baptised Battle, 15 July 1760
Ann Philcox was buried in Battle on 3 November 1760. [6]
George Philcox died in Battle and was buried there on 20 November 1775. The register notes showed George Philcox senior, destroyed himself by hanging. [7]
