Biography

Unknown Philpott was probably born in 1770 or earlier. He was the father of Alexander Martin Philpott and Charles Philpott.^[1]

It is estimated that Unknown Philpott married in 1791 or earlier. This estimate is based on the fact that his eldest known child, Alexander Martin Philpott, was born in 1792.

The date of his death is not known, though it likely occurred before 1810 when his son Alexander Martin Philpott reached his majority and paid his tithe at Patrick County, Virginia.^[1] The rest of the Philpott males who paid tithes in Henry and Patrick counties that year, could not have been the father of Alexander Martin and his brother, Charles.
