Biography

Anna Mary Piencikowski was the daughter of Stanley Pienczykowski and and Catherine Malek. She married ANDREW HENRY KOTECKI (Nov. 27, 1907-Mar. 10, 1981) on Feb. 18, 1939, in St. Hyacinth’s Church in La Salle and farmed west of Ottawa, Ill. They also raised chickens. Andrew was a big, strong man who had no trouble stacking hay bales five high. They were members of St. Patrick’s Church in Ottawa. Andrew died in Ottawa Community Hospital at the age of 73. Anna, born in La Salle, died at the age of 94 in the Ottawa Pavilion. Andrew and Anna are buried in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery, La Salle, Ill., with his parents.

Notes:

Anna is listed in the 1910 US Federal Census with her parents Stanley and Catherine, and siblings John, Catherine, and Helen. Her parents were both born in Poland, and had immigrated to the U.S. in 1899. They were 29 and 28 years old.

In 1920, Anna's widowed mother had John, Anna, Joseph, and Merceda/Mercedes living with her. Anna's father Stanley must have died between Mercedes' conception and 1920, so about 1915-1920.

In 1930, John, Anna, Joseph and Mercedes were living with their mother in La Salle. Anna worked for Westclox.

Catherine Pienczcykowski, the widow of Stanley, was listed in the directories for La Salle through 1960. (Ancestry.com has no directories after that year.) There is an additional brother, Chester, listed in Anna's obituary. John and Joseph can also be found at Find a Grave in St. Hyacinth's, last name spelled Piancikowski. Mercedes Piancikowski Dransik was buried in the Peru City Cemetery.
