Joseph Oskar Pierce was born on February 28, 1904, in Georgia. He was the son of Minor Pierce and Ada Butler, his father, Minor, was 24 and his mother, Ada, was 25. He had three brothers and six sisters. He died on September 13, 1904, in his hometown within a year of his birth, and was buried in Madison, Georgia.^[1]
