Jane was born in Warrington, Lancashire, England probably in 1708 and was baptised at St Elphin's Church. She is the daughter of Joseph Pierpoint. [1]

- The surname is recorded alternatively as Perpoint or Pierpoint at this time.
- There is a record of a marriage of a Jane Pierpoint marriage in 1739/40 [2] but this could be a different Jane Pierpoint
