Biography

Cecilia V Pinto was born on 11 Dec 1876[1][2] in Bari, Puglia, Italy[3] as the daughter of Vincenzo Pinto and Domenica (Fortunato) Pinto (who needs to be further substantiated before adding profile) of Bari, Italy.[4]

Cecelia (using surname Cirignani) and her sister, Maria (Pinto) Cirignani (using name Pinto) (b 20 Apr 1882) emigrated from Naples, Italy to New York, USA on 18 Jun 1909[5] and made Chicago, their permanent home for the balance of their lives.[3]

An actual marriage record has yet to be found; however it is known that Nicola came first in 1900 with no wife and came a second time on 18 Jun 1909, traveling with a wife "Cecelia Cirignani" and her unmarried sister, "Maria Pinto", substantiating that Nicola and Cecilia's marriage took place between 1900 and 1909 and most likely in Bari, Italy where the Pinto and Cirignani families both lived.

Cecelia and Nicola Cirignani had no children of their own.[6]

On 4 Apr 1930, Cecelia(52) and Nicola Cirignani (56) had been married for abt. 20 years and owned a two story home at 3818 Karlov, Chicago, that they shared with Cecelia's sister, Maria (Pinto) Cirignani, and her husband Agostino Cirignani, who was also the brother of Cecilia's husband, and their three (3) children - Dominichella (Cirignani) DeStefano, Guiseppe Dominick Cirignani Sr. (1914-2005), and Vincent Cirignani.[7]

In 1940 Cecilia (64) and her husband, Nicola Cirignani ((65), who both had only a 4th grade elementary school education, were still living in the same home with Cecilia's sister, Maria (Pinto) Cirignani, and Nicola's brother, Agostino Cirignani, and their two nephews, Jose[8]

Cecilia lost her husband Nicola Cirignani to death on 12 Sep 1964.[9]

Cecilia died at age 97, on 25 Jul 1974[1], and was buried at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, Cook, Illinois, QH 1F Crypt 5369 St. Isaac Jogues.[2]

Parents: Need full accurate original birth names of both parents

  1. I have not located a strong substantiation for the names of Cecilia's parents. The ONLY source I could find was their names substantiated on the SS Applications and Claims Index for her sister, Maria Pinto Cirignani, with whom she immigrated and with whom she lived her entire life.
  2. Need Italian BMD records for both parents
