Biography

Henry Pitcairn of Forthar, 15th Laird of Pitcairn, was born about 1560 in Leslie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. He was the son of John Pitcairn (abt.1534-1593) and his only wife, Agnes Ayton (abt.1530-). ^[1]

On 1 May 1586, Henry married Isabella Balfour, daughter of Michael Balfour, 3rd of Montquhannie and Mariota Adamson. They had at least 5 sons: ^{[2] [3]}

1. David Pitcairn of Forthar, 16th Laird of Pitcairn, b: ca. 1586; m. Mariota Menteith, dgr. of Sir Willliam Menteith of Kerse: 6 Jan 1611; d. 1653
2. Robert Pitcairn, 2nd son, b: ca. 1588
3. James Pitcairn, 3rd son, b: ca. 1589
4. John Pitcairn, 4th son; b: ca. 1592; d. 1652
5. Andrew Pitcairn, 5th son, b: ca. 1596; Falconer to King Charles I

Henry succeeded to the Pitcairn lands and title as the "15th Laird of Pitcairn," on his father's death in 1593.

He died in 1626 in Fife, Scotland. His eldest son, David Pitcairn, succeeded him as the "Sixteenth of Pitcairn".
