Biography

Edward Plowman was born in Dorset, England.

Birth and Parentage

It is thought that Edward Plowman is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Plowman. The baptism record for this son of Thomas and Elizabeth Plowman for sometime in 1700 may be Edward's. Unfortunately, the first name is illegible, as is the exact date of the baptism, however, the transcription shows the above date.^[1]A brother, Zimri, was born on 5 September 1703.^[1]

Marriage and Family

In 1729, he was living in Winfrith Newburgh, Dorset, (usually called Winfrith) with his wife, Mary and son Thomas. All three are mentioned in a record of the Poor Law Settlement of 24 July. ^[2][3]

After Thomas was born, they had at least seven further children;

1. Hester (b. late 1729),
2. Edward (bap.1731, who must have died young),
3. Mary (bap. 1733),
4. Elizabeth (b. 1735),
5. Edward (b. 1737),
6. Vine (b. 1739) and
7. William (b. 1742).

Death

Edward passed away shortly before 25 December 1772. ^[12]
