Biography

Bethiah C. Plumb was born on April 1, 1794, in Connecticut, USA. She was the daughter of Jessie Plumb Sr. and Mary Churchill, who were both of English descent. She married Truman Ward, a farmer and a veteran of the War of 1812, on September 5, 1812, in Middletown, Connecticut. They had three children: Frederick Truman Ward, Mary Churchill Ward, and Ellen E Ward. Bethiah lived a long life of 79 years and witnessed many historical events, such as the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War, and the Industrial Revolution. She died on April 17, 1873, in her hometown and was buried in Middletown Cemetery.
