Biography

Mary Ann Podger was born in 1859 in Moorabool, Victoria. She was the daughter of Betsy (Barnett) Podger and George Lawrence Podger.^[1]

She married Alexander Calder in 1885.^[2] They had at least seven children:^[3]

• William Hubert Calder born 1886 in Hawthorn, married Minnie Bertha Nitz 1915, died 29 June 1964 in Kew aged 77
• Alexander Leslie Calder born 1888 in Hawthorn, married Mary Charlton 1913, died 1952 in Leongatha aged 63
• Florence Jane Calder born 1890 in Korumburra, died 1891 in Korrumburra aged one
• Matthew Albert Calder born 1894 in Fairbank near Korumburra, died 1977 in Leongatha aged 82
• Robert Charles Calder born about 1894 in Fairbank, married Annie Ethel Larman 1923, died 14 June 1968 in Leongatha aged 75
• Olive Elizabeth Calder born 1900 in Fairbank, married Charley Edney 1926, died 31 July 1985 at Woorayl and District Memorial Hospital, Leongatha aged 85
• Walter John Calder born 21 January 1902 in Korumburra, died 1967 in Korumburra aged 66.

Mary Calder died in 1938 in Leongatha, aged 79.^[4]
